Rebecca Williams, daughter of James Williams, married Jesse Ellis. 
Rebecca was born about 1788 in Tennessee; Jesse was born about 1783 in North Carolina. Both died between 1860 and 1870, probably in Clinton County, KY and are probably buried on the old Tilford Neathery farm.


One of their sons, Lawson Martin Ellis, left the area for Hempstead Co., Ar., where he first married Caroline Green in 1846 and three children were born to this union. He later married Rosanna Sevedge and this marriage brought two more children to the family.

There is only sketchy information on the other two sons of Rebecca Williams and Jesse Ellis. 

However, several of their daughters married and raised families in Clinton Co.  Susan married Fountain Piercey, and their children married into the Brown, Wright and Lee families.

Ann Ellis married Dempsey Guthrie and from two of their daughters brought about connections with the McKinley and Hunter families.

Martha Jane Ellis, another daughter of Jesse and Rebecca, married William H. Hunter, the son of S. J. Hunter, a Methodist minister, and JP of Clinton Co. 


Nancy Ellis married Tilford (Til) Neathery, and their children married into the Burchett, Pierce, and Talbott families.

Elizabeth Ellis married Richard H. Kookendoffer. Not much is known about this branch except that they had three children, Mary S. born 1854, C.L. born 1856 and David E. born 1858.
