When a new family enters the ward, it's not uncommon for the entire meeting to be used to introduce them. The father, mother, and sometimes children (depending on age) will speak and tell about themselves. This way everyone gets to know them at once and all the questions are answered (type of work, where they're from, converts or born into the Church, etc.).
The first Sunday of every month is called fast and testimony meeting.
