"If the men and women are the children of God, sons and daughters of heavenly parents, fashioned in their image, endowed with their attributes and destined to become like them in perfection, why should it startle the world to be told that there is a mother as well as a father in heaven. it is reasonable, philosophical and, like all truth, invulnerable."

Joseph Fielding Smith (sixth prophet):

Latter-day Saints believe that not only have we a Father in heaven, but a mother there. Why not have a mother as well as a Father? Is there any blasphemy in this teaching? moreover, we believe that it is the purpose of the Almighty to crown those who keep his commandments in full, and endure to the end, with all the blessings of the celestial kingdom. The celestial kingdom is the kingdom where God and Christ dwell. Those who enter there in exaltation become sons and daughters of God, and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, and the promise to them is that they who are married for time and all eternity and remain true to their covenants, shall be crowned with eternal increase. They become gods, even sons and daughters of God.
