| This is what a lot of people do by
accident when first learning the Sonic (therefore Neo-Sonic).
You start out with the pen between the middle and ring fingers. The
pen then does a complete spin around your middle finger in a clockwise
direction. |

360Degree-1-Normal |
06-01-01 |
| Another one of the different variations
of 360 Degree family. The pen is held loose between your index
and middle fingers. The spin consist of a full spin around your index
finger (therefore the name) before the pen is caught back in the original
position (Video shows CCW direction). |

360Degree-2-Normal |

| As far as I know, this is one of my
original creations. This one is like a combination of the Twisted
Sonic with the Index Spin.
The The only difference is that it spins around the middle finger
while the Index and Ring finger are bent, reminding you of someone
showing you the finger, thus the name. In this video, you can see
the CCW variation of the spin. |

ThumbSnap-360-Hor (temporary name) |
11-24-01 |
| This is a new trick that Brandon Pannabecker
sent me. It's a combination of the Thumb
Snap from Patrick Szeto and the Single Reverse (see below). The
pen is snapped into the air while making a counter-clockwise spin.
The video shows a 360 degree spin (1 spin), but theorically "it
can go as high and spin as much as you want", according to Pannabecker. |

Charge-23-Normal |
06-01-01 |
| One of the most basic tricks in pen
spinning (the first one I learned). The pen rotates in position between
your middle and ring fingers (clockwise). Seen from the top, the motion
reminds of two cones with the tips touching each other. From the sides,
it may look like a fan. |

Not much difference here, but some people start knowing this variation

Sonic-123-Normal |
06-01-01 |
| This is another one of those techniques
that you must have in your arsenal. Although it may not be as famous
as the 360 Degree, this certainly is one useful technique.
Most of my combos are created using this technique. The pen goes around
the middle finger apparently "jumping" from between the
middle and ring fingers to fall between the index and middle fingers.

| I have not seen one trick yet that
you can perform the technique in one direction and cannot perform
it in the opposite direction. The Sonic is not an exception.
This is the reverse motion of the Sonic, which for most people
is a lot harder to do. |

Sonic-1half-123-Normal |
11-16-01 |
| I just learned this one from Hideaki's
Web Site. It's an advanced version of the Sonic Normal that does
one and a half spin before being caught. Seeing this technique opened
my eyes to see that even with so many variation that there is for
the Sonic, there's not an finite number of techniques that you can
come up with. |

around the middle finger from the outside, in the Inverse Sonic
the pen rotates from the inside of your hand. The extra spin at the
beginning is just to get the impulse needed to start the spin. |

| Instead of jumping from one space
between two fingers to the next space, this variation makes the pen
jump two spaces at a time. In my opinion, not really impressive, but
it is a variation. Please do not confuse the Sonic 2x with
the Sonic Double, which I'll post later (once I learned it). |

combines one rotation of the Charge, and the last part of Finger

ThumbSpin-half-Normal |
11-24-01 |
| I first saw David Weiss performing
this trick on his videos. Even though the technique is simple and
consists of continuously making half Thumb Spins, it becomes very
impressive when done in speed (which, by the way, you can't see on
my video). This is a great technique that you should practice to develop
good timing. |

ThumbSpin-1-Normal |
06-01-01 |
| Not really an useful technique if
you ask me. Most people would prefer to do the 360 Degree or
"Around the Thumb" spin instead. The difference between
the two techniques is that this one has the pen spinning on top of
the Thumb, as opposed to around it. |

| As an extension to the 360 Degree,
the Forward 1.5 Thumb Spin is one of the coolest tricks I've seen
performed. Basically what you do is fold the Thumb before the pen
completes a full spin, allowing it to continue for another half spin.
The technique I've seen done is an "infinite combo" with
Forward 1.5, followed by another Forward 1.5 and so on. I credit this
technique to David Weiss, who performed 10 Forward 1.5s in a row (a
total of 15 spins without stopping!). |

| Another extension for the 360 Degree.
Instead of making 1 and a half spin, in this technique the pen does
two complete spins on top of the Thumb before it is caught. The process
is basically the same as the Forward 1.5. You just let the pen spin
in balance for another half circle. |

| Here's an extension to the 360 Degree.
The pen does one and a half spin (first spin around the Thumb, the
rest around the index finger). The techniques involved are the 360
Degree Normal and the Index Spin. You have to fold the
Thumb at the right time to transfer the momentum to the index finger. |

Sonic-234-Normal, Sonic-Twist-123-Normal, ThumbSpin-1half-Normal |
10-05-01 |
| This is a combo that I have been working
for years now. I finally got it to be accurate enough to catch it
on video. The combo consists, in their respective order, of the following
techniques: Sonic-234-Normal (variation of Sonic that start with the
pen between the little finger and ring finger), Twisted Sonic Normal,
and Forward 1.5. The number of spins add up to four, but I'm currently
working on extended versions of this combo that can do five or more
spins. |
