Amazingly, the Full Moon/Eclipse is part of the six-pointed star alignment pattern, and by virtue of this, will amplify and sustain the energies of that pattern. For more information on John's work, see http://www.astrosite.com A six-pointed star pattern marks a rare concordance (concur-dance) of planetary energies, also known in astrology as a Grand Sextile, which helps to promote a harmonious resolution to polarity based conflict in human consciousness. The six-pointed star is a well known symbol for the fusion of polarities, especially that of spirit and matter. The six-pointed star teaches us that by moving beyond the dualistic thinking of the rational mind, we can experience the truth of our existence on Earth, which is that the spiritual and physical are different aspects of the same thing. By stilling the mind and moving into the Now, we open ourselves up to experiencing this truth, and make the breakthrough that enables us to move forward in our self-realisation, and live with greater love, wisdom, and power. A Grand Sextile is significant because it represents the harmonious and creative integration of planetary forces. Three awareness-revealing oppositions, which on their own would be difficult to resolve, simultaneously trine and sextile each other, making their resolution suddenly much more possible due to the supportive flow of energy that these trines and sextiles bring. Within the Grand Sextile we find 3 Mystic Rectangles and 5 Kites - alignment-patterns which are associated with the raising of consciousness. The last significant Grand Sextile occurred on July 22 in 1995, during a historic period of social and world change - but this did not feature a Full Moon, let alone a Total Eclipse. Yet both Grand Sextiles fall in Earth and Water elements, keeping us focused on resolving our earthly-based emotional issues so that we become more fully realised as vehicles of spiritual light. I will approach this reading by examining each awareness revealing opposition in turn. A Grand Sextile is made up of two Grand Trines, which are the two equilateral triangles within a six-pointed star. Each opposition links one point of a Grand Trine to the point of the other Grand Trine that is directly opposite. In other words it denotes the path of integration that is paved between the two forces. Please note that oppositions are not bad alignments in astrology. Let's put the record straight: alignments are only alignments, it is the judgement of the ego that perceives them as good or bad. In fact, the oppositions are crucial to raising consciousness by stimulating the interaction of polarities. Our job is to move out of duality and to bring the two polarities together into unity. The first opposition consists of Full Moon in Taurus opposite Sun in Taurus. The Earth casts its shadow on the Moon during the Lunar Eclipse because the two bodies are in direct alignment on the vertical and horizontal planes. This precise alignment is why Lunar Eclipses are so powerful. It also represents a merging of dimensions. The darkening moon is like a cosmic mother, stepping out of the light so that we are encouraged to find our own light within. While the conscious face of us may be in darkness, we need to realise that the unconscious face of us is holding the light. That is the symbolism the Earth gives us, and this should hopefully clear up much of the confusion about eclipses that is generated as a result of superstition and ignorance. We are being asked to look within to find our light. The Full Moon is in Taurus, attuning us to the earthly plane and the value of our physical incarnation. The Sun is in Scorpio, taking us to the depths of our being and urging us to express our light to transform and empower ourselves. Interestingly, on October 28 this year, not long after the Sun had entered Scorpio, the Sun sent out a massive solar flare - the third most powerful since records began - that surprised everyone because the sunspot cycle had peaked in 2000. This stream of accelerated charged particles, thirteen times the size of the Earth, heading towards our Earth, represents a transformation of consciousness in response to an intensified urge to spiritual enlightenment. Together the Sun and Moon on November 8-9 encourage us to move beyond materialistic entrapment so that we can honour our highest potential on Earth by expressing our spiritual light in form. The energies of Taurus teach us to value our feeling nature while the energies of Scorpio assist us to raise our vibrations so that we may move beyond emotional entrapment. Here we are helped to start feeling again so that we can move beyond the emotional resistances that separate us from the state of love and joy that is our birthright. There is common sense to this: we can not move beyond what we are not prepared to feel. The second opposition consists of Saturn in Cancer opposite Chiron in Capricorn. This makes concrete the theme of emotional wounding and suppression. Saturn in Cancer focuses us on our emotional blocks, and teaches us the responsibility to grow emotionally, and to embody our feeling nature in heart-felt ways. Chiron in Capricorn helps us to understand limitation and the whole issue of authority and responsibility from a healing perspective. To own our authority (author-ity) means to be authors of our own lives. It requires responsibility (response-ability), which simply means the ability to respond to our needs. This opposition will bring up for healing the emotional wounds created by the forces of control and suppression, whether they stem from our own fear or the abuse of external authorities. It is time to wake up to the fact that when we abdicate our responsibility to external authorities, we are denying ourselves the opportunity to create our own reality. This opposition presents an opportunity to heal our attitude to authority and responsibility, and to heal the fear and resistance we have to contacting fully our emotional nature, which has been so feared by the patriarchal forces of control. The more responsible we are, the more we are able to develop emotionally and to structure our reality in a way that enhances our self-realisation. Saturn is a great teacher, and amazingly it falls in the degree of Cancer that is associated with the Sabian Symbol of the Wise Old Man facing the direction from which spiritual-cosmic forces enter the Earth-sphere. Interestingly, Saturn is within a degree of Sirius, while Chiron is exactly opposite Sirius. This represents an aligment to cosmic truth and will assist us to embody our higher feminine energies and to structure our reality in a way that enhances our spiritual self-realisation on Earth. As a matter of interest, Chiron falls in the degree of Capricorn that is associated with the Sabian Symbol of a toy-filled children's ward in a hospital. This represents the responsibility to provide structures and environments that nurture and heal our inner spiritual child. Saturn will be opposite Chiron for the next three years, showing that the lesson of owning our responsibility and authority is a major issue and focus for us spiritually. It will also assist us to bring healing energies to the structures of society, for as we each respond to our drive to spiritual self-realisation, our relationships change, and the reality we create in society is transformed. The third opposition consists of Jupiter in Virgo opposite Mars in Pisces. Jupiter in Virgo represents the growth of service and healing in response to Earth-based wisdom. It teaches us to distinguish between spiritless work and spiritual service. In short, it is asking us to expand our concept of what needs serving. As we do so, we will realise that our deepest needs stem from the deepest part of ourselves: the soul that created a physical reality in order to attain greater spiritual self-realisation. The needs of the ego are then seen in a much different light as we learn the true source of our identity. Mars in Pisces is a call to spiritual action. It shows us how our will becomes weakened and misdirected in the absence of our spiritual alignment. Mars has the potential to energise our spiritual ideals and with the support of Jupiter, challenge us to move out of apathy and delusion towards greater spiritual fulfilment. Interestingly, Mars has been in Pisces since June 2003, and on August 27 made its closest approach to Earth in some 60,000 years, signalling the timely need to regain our spiritual will, empowerment, and enthusiasm for the purpose of serving the spiritual evolution of ourselves and our collective planetary consciousness. Mars is literally proclaiming that the time of spiritual empowerment is now. Interestingly, on the day of the Grand Sextile, Mars will move past the point it went retrograde at the end of July, signalling a time to move forward after aligning our energies spiritually. It is thought that the close approach of Mars may well have influenced the solar flare activity of the Sun, favouring the enhancement of spiritual self-expression. The Sabian Symbol for the degree of Mars will be of "Men traveling a narrow path, seeking illumination". In summary, then, these three oppositions, held together supportively in a six-pointed-star matrix of light, represent a concordance of alchemical energies that will assist us to develop in responsibility and to heal emotionally so that we can transform our earthly experience and fulfil our impulse for spiritual self-realisation on Earth. By focusing on these themes at the time of the Harmonic Concordance, we will not only enhance our capacity for spiritual growth and healing, but will set up with those joining us in this sacred intent a resonant field that will help the collective consciousness to respond to the opportunity for greater healing and spiritual self-realisation. Interestingly, Uranus, the planet that helps us to align to our higher self, turns stationary direct at 12.44 GMT on November 8, after moving retrograde since July. Whenever a planet reaches its station point (stops in relative motion to the Earth), its power is expanded in potential, like an elastic band being stretched to its limit, and its energy is intensified. It is a pause in its motion, like the holding of a cosmic breath, in which sacred intentions can be set in ceremonial power with added effectiveness. Turning direct in relative motion to the Earth will enhance our capacity to make positive changes and realignments, and to awaken to the spiritual truths of our being. # # #
