 I'll Do It This Afternoon
05/17/01-PyroFrog9-
Well, I promised everyone some new features on the site, and so far I have been lax as far as getting them done.  You must understand, though, that the last thing I want to do after a hard week or so of non-stop C++ and coffee is write more code, even if it is Perl.  But, if you will look closely, I have made a few minor additions.  The programs listing is a little different, and I have a counter for daily hits.  The summer is essentially here, so I will do the following stuff as soon as exams are over:

- A rating system for each file in the archive
- More advanced categorization of the archive
- Occasional polls
- A CGI to control 'recent additions' to the archive
- More information in information profiles

I decided against a plain HTML version, because that would be near-useless to anyone trying to use it.

 Basic Guru Online SOTM™!
03/15/01-PyroFrog9-
We did it!  We finally won Basic Guru Online's Site of the Month Award!  The results of the poll are available here.  Evidentially, the CGI scripting we have been using has given us the boost we needed to win.  Therefore, in keeping with the previous news article, I will be adding some features next week (my spring break).  The award itself is available for viewing at the bottom of the page.

 The Next Site Update
02/14/01-PyroFrog9-
I told everyone about my newfound CGI superpowers in a news article last month, and, as you can see, quite a bit of CGI applications have been implemented.  All files now have a corresponding information profile which is served up, hot and fresh, by a CGI script.  Additionally, the site counter is no longer owing royalties to a third-party provider.  I also have the top 5 download script running, as you can see to the right.  However,  I do have a few more CGI's slated for the next month or so (right after I finish this Computer Science I project).  Listed below are some of my plans:
- A rating system for each file in the archive
- More advanced categorization of the archive
- Minor fixes to some of the cgi's so as to make them more compatible with older browsers
- A plain HTML version of this site
- Occasional polls
- A CGI to control 'recent additions' to the archive
- More information in information profiles
- ActiveX to destroy the PCs of Casio users (kidding)
 TI-NES Controller Project Resumes
02/07/01-PyroFrog9-
After a long hiatus due to putting all my time and effort into the Flabberghast website, work on the NES controller for the TI-83 has resumed.  We plan to begin testing the output voltages of the controller next Monday, and from there figure out a way to start building the interface card.  I suggested a DAQ (data acquisition) device, but those cost hundreds and require a PC to interface.  It looks like we will probably be using a Basic Stamp II to fool around with the I/O from the calculator and the controller, and then we can begin working on a cheaper hardware solution.  The other member working on this project, The Love Robot, is recorded as saying "I want to get this thing done quickly so we can start working on the robot".  Don't ask...

New PUD (Projects Under Development)!  This is a hardware project I decided to start working on one night after a bottle of vodka and a Star Trek marathon.  Basically, I plan to interface my TI-89's processor with my cerebral cortex so as to allow me to instantaneously perform vector differentiation and integration.  The TI-89 will transmit data serially via the linkport to a Borg conversion matrix located directly beneath my scalp, under the occipital bone.  The converter will then route itself throughout my cerebral cortex, compelling me to do the will of the Collective, but also giving me supernatural vector calculus abilities (a fair tradeoff).  By the way, this news article is just a joke - I don't really have a TI-89.

TI Programmer's Network Banner Exchange is up!  Thats right, the banner exchange hosted by Flabberghast Software is ready to go - to see what it looks like, just take a look at the bottom of the page!  For more information, click "Join" in the Banner's title bar.

Downloads of mine top 1000!  One thousand people have downloaded my programs from ticalc.org to date.  I want to thank my mom, and that little old lady at the coffee shop...  But seriously, what does this mean for Flabberghast Software?  Not much.  People like Patrick Davidson have over 600 times as many downloads.  But still, its pretty good, considering that none of the files are games (the most popular category).  As far as downloads from the Flabberghast site, I only have about 14 - so please download my programs.

01/18/01-PyroFrog9-

We apologize that certain sections of Flabberghast Software are not yet available for non-Javascript enabled browsers.  The entire file download system requires Javascript, as well as the site counter and the navigation footers.  We are working on a plain HTML version, which will hopefully be up by the end of the month.  In the mean time, if you are a non-Javascript user, you may download our files from ticalc.org here:

Flabberghast Software moves!  Flabberghast Software has moved to its new location, hosted by Prohosting!  Our users may experience some errors during the moving process, which may include broken links, broken images, etc.  Our reason for moving is that Prohosting allows CGI, which means that Flabberghast Software will start having a lot of interactive features.  We will also be restructuring the file download system and the member profiles, so that each file will keep track of its downloads.

Lesson three of my series on TI83 BASIC optimization is complete!  It describes in graphic detail some advanced applications of the conditional expression, as well as how to manipulate strings to do your evil bidding.

Yay!  Zealot ZSUBs 2.0 is here at last - I finished it last night.  I've fixed a lot of the major problems of 1.0, such as the lack of standardized rows and columns in ZICONLIB, and the lack of a space character in ZTXTTYPE.  I have also done away with the annoying access flag, and optimized most of the subroutines.  Check the documentation for more information!

File added - zsubnum.zip.  The first function of an expansion to the Zealot ZSUB functions.  ZDECPLCE.83p takes any rational number and returns the number of digits after the decimal place.

Get ready to watch your programs shrink like magic!  No, its not your RAM getting corrupted, its our newly released manual on how to optimize your code to take up less space and run faster.  Check out Lesson 1 and Lesson 2!

The brunt of the Flabberghast site is installed.  As some of the older, mostly finished projects are *finally* documented, they will be posted in the archives, as well as in ticalc.org.  The site is 'done' per say, but I will probably end up adding a couple new features when I get some free time.  I know everyone would rather see me working on projects than screwing around with the site.

The Flabberghast Software home page is designed.  I made the cute little animated screenshot with TI-SSHOT, and the program itself I made mostly in asm (simple text display).  Sections of Flabberghast Software will soon be developed, and links to our programs will be available.
