Join the Flabberghast
RC5 Effort!
(A joint project with the Winmac RC5 Effort)
Flabberghast Software is not affiliated in any way with Distributed.net.
Since Flabberghast Software is a programming organization, we feel it is important to participate in programming and cracking projects. These include our own projects as well as projects of the greater computing community. Distributed.net is currently working on cracking the RC5-64 encryption algorithm by going through every possible key until the key that cracks the algorithm is found. In order to crack the algorithm as fast as possible, Distributed.net needs as much processing power as possible. For more information about the RC5 effort, refer to the Distributed.net RC5 Page.
To put your spare processing speed towards the RC5 effort, all you have to do is set up the client, and it will automatically download "blocks" of keys, crunch them, and upload the results to RC5. Winmac has released a set of installers that will install the client on your system as an invisible service and set it up to submit to the Winmac RC5 Effort ID. It takes up very little hard drive space, and only uses the idle processor cycles. If you would like to participate, you may download the client and configure it yourself from Distributed.net (not recommended), or download the appropriate installer below (recommended):
