Look at what we are learning!

Reading:  The following books will be read:  Teachers, School Principal, Doctors, Let’s Visit the Supermarket, Meet the School Nurse, Dentists, Post Office, and School Custodians.  We will continue discussing characters and retelling the stories.  Our nursery rhyme for this week is Jack Be Nimble.  You will get a copy of the nursery rhyme.  Please put it on the refrigerator and practice reading it each day.   The students will recite the nursery rhyme on Friday.  The following words are our High Frequency Words for this quarter a, he, I, is, it, see, she, the.  Please go over these words daily with your child.  Practice spelling these words.  (-:

Writing:  The letter Cc is our Letter of the Week.  We will be learning how to write this letter correctly and the sound.  We will be focusing on pencil grip and writing our name with an upper case letter at the beginning, then lower case letters to follow.  Your child will be graded on his/her ability to master this skill by the end of the first quarter.  Thank you for helping!

Math:  We are learning about the date, yesterday/today/tomorrow, days of the week, months of the year, and counting 0-30.  We are continuing to explore patterns, shapes, position, and quantity.  We are working on the AB and AAB pattern.

Science:  We are learning about apples, seasons (fall), colors, and shapes.

Social Studies:  I would like to say a big thank you to the parents and family members that went with us to the fire station on Friday.  We had an awesome time!!!  I have a smilebox ready for your viewing.  (-:  http://wind.prohosting.com/bstone38/Mrs.%20Stone's%20Class%202009-2010.htm We made a book to thank the firefighters, and I will be dropping off some goodies today as well.  We will continue learning about community helpers. 

Class News

Tuesday we will have an assembly to share the joys of reading!   Picture Day is October 26, 2009.

If your child is going to be eating breakfast, you will need to send a note letting us know.  Please tell us if it is every day, certain days, or just once in a while.

Thank you for sending in ‘Healthy’ snacks and labeling it for your child.
