Community

As an educator Power's vision is to awaken the individual to the latent creative energy within us all. As a mixed media artist, she encourages exploration and discovery through the manipulation of a variety of media. She selects from skills and techniques as varied as design, drawing, paint, print, assemblage, laser copy, applique, machine and hand embroidery, beading and hand paper and book making.

Power has worked in settings as diverse as hospitals, schools, community centres, gaols, public housing, women's groups, as well as with textile artists and students.

Be they three or eighty-three, Power believes that any individual can find pleasure and satisfaction in the stimulation and challenge of the creative process, and that to create and make invariably promotes a feeling of self worth and empowerment.

Power has carried this vision into her extensive involvement in community projects.
A selection of the work that has come out of some of these projects is illustrated below.
